The Mission wants to thank People for Bikes for the generous grant of $1000.00 to purchase racks to hold the bicycles that we are giving to our men.  We are still in need of many gently Used Bicycles for our "Bike to the Future" program.  Our NEW LIFE residents are working at the United Gospel Rescue Mission as part of their training and transitioning back into society.  We want to give them the opportunity to earn a bicycle for their personal use in going to and from work and appointments.  They will earn their transportation through an established amount of hours of labor.  This will prepare them to be independent and responsible for leaving and arriving on time to their job and appointments.

WANT TO HELP:  Do you have an old bicycle setting in your garage that no one rides?  Would you consider donating it to the United Gospel Rescue Mission to help a resident "Bike to His Future"?  All gifts are tax deductible.

United Gospel Rescue Mission

Working with the Mission helps everyone!

The United Gospel Rescue Mission is in our community to serve our community and the surrounding areas. The Rescue Mission is ready to assist our poorest community members in their time of need. Whether it is providing rehabilitation to an addicted man, serving a hot, nutritious meal to a hungry soul, helping with utility connection fees, or aiding clients with clothing, furniture, and household goods,

Our Christian Social Services meet needy families, individuals, and Senior Citizens in our community, and attempt to reach out to them and help with their various needs each day.

Our New Life Program at the Kay Porter house provides men needing help with their addictions to find a new life through a one-year, residential rehabilitation program.  This program is free of charge thanks to our wonderful donors who care about others in our community.

As part of Butler County's Emergency Management Team (EMA),  we have been involved in feeding over 30,000 meals during three area disasters in the last ten years. All of this is done free of charge, and could not have happened without financial donations from you, the caring people of this community, and the hundreds of volunteers that come out for emergencies. Recently, during a major fire in the downtown area, our Director, Rev. Gregory Kirk, who also doubles as the Chaplain to the Poplar Bluff Fire Dept., was able to coordinate getting cold drinks and fresh food to the firefighters and volunteers who gathered to help our community.
The mission has also been instrumental in helping several local families touched by fire over the years. Whether it is assisting clients to find emergency housing, replacing furniture, or meeting with grieving family members over a tragic loss, our staff is ready to help.

When you donate to the United Gospel Rescue Mission with a FINANCIAL GIFT or by giving GOOD, USED items for resale in our THRIFT STORE, you are becoming an active participant in the lives changed through the ministry of the UNITED GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION.  WILL YOU CONSIDER JOINING THE RESCUE MISSION TEAM by donating today?
